Aleister Crowley:
in his role as "A Man."
Let's set out a few things right off; this is not a love ode to Crowley. I am not one of his biggest fans. I am, however, a believer. I believe he was a prophet. From whom? No idea.
Like all prophets; he was mad. As a hatter, mad. Was he mad before the missive? Or did the madness set in afterward? No idea.
He was asshole. He was a genius. He was a horrendous pervert. He was ahead of his time.
He was a mysogynist. He loved and lost.
See the problem trying to pin him down? He was a man. Like all of us, full of contradictions; changing with life and experience. I do believe he was able to see beyond. To see and interpret what many of us know is out there but always seen through the glass, darkly, via our peripheral vision.
Why was he picked as a prophet? I don't know that HE was.
Aiwass did, originally, speak through Rose Kelly, Aleister was the transcriber of sorts. A secretary for the Divine. A noble role but I imagine a bit of a slap in the face to him.
Would people have listened to Rose? A hopeless alcoholic? Probably not. She would have been more pliable than Aleister however, a far better conduit than he. Aleister had that bothersome arrogance thing happening.
The pages beyond will be a trip through Aleister Crowley's legacy. You won't find much you can't find somewhere else, with the exception of some editorial comment and personal experience.
This is not going to be a flag waving for the O.T.O. (I don't like them very much.) It will be an examination of Thelema from a modern woman's point of view. A Thelemite. I am a Star and I bow to no man, to no woman.
A good lot of the material is the work of the late Tim Maroney; his work is, in my opinion, excellent, particularly the 5 Voices pieces. You will find this work here.
You won't find any obtuse "Thelemite-speak" in here. What you will find is an honest interpretation of Crowley, his heavy influence on the Neo-Pagan movement (something, I am sure, has him spinning in his grave) and his influence on my life, my teachings.
Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law
